After managing to flatten the battery, I jumped started the car but put the jumper cables to each battery terminal. The hand book says put the donor negative to the receiving car's body. Since then the windscreen wipers have stopped in the upright position and only twitch about 1 cm every 20 seconds or so. They have returned to park once but on next use stopped upright and started twitching again. Anyone had the same?

Hi, I'm newbie to the forum and was interested in the 'wiper' problem issues. I have an e reg galaxy that has just started giving me wiper problems. When they are set to constant, after operating normally for about 2 - 3 minutes, they sometimes stop for a fraction of a second, then start again. The stoppages are intermittent and sometimes last a few seconds.

Took the car to the local Ford Dealer 5 times before mechanic said that they were supposed to work like that ! I did explain that this happens when driving in heavy rain at reasonable speeds. They changed the motor but problem still exists. has anybody else experienced this?

Have looked through FAQs, but wonder if my problem is due to sticky balljoints or something else. The wipers work OK on the intermittent setting. On fast constant they seem to run at normal speed, then suddenly speed up, then slow down again. I know that the wipers are supposed to slow down when the car does, but this happens when you are travelling at normal speeds. Any help would be gratefully received.

Thanks for your help Malcolm. I've now spoken to Ford Customer Relations and they suggested I take it to another dealer to see if they can identify the problem. Off on holiday now for 3 weeks, so will try the different dealer option when I get back, and mention your point.

You have probably got a faulty control module. By faulty, I mean water has got in and is still in or has left corrosion on the PCB. This is a common fault and it usually shows up as wipers that don't switch off or run at the wrong speed. The control module is attached to the wiper motor and can be removed. I would try and open it up and clean it with a tooth brush and some PCB cleaner. Leave it to dry overnight before reassembing. A new module is around
